William Hill appoints KPMG to review digital business

William Hill has reportedly appointed advisory firm KPMG to conduct a strategic review of its digital business, after the bookmaker last month revealed a drop in revenue during the opening period of the year.

According to various reports in the UK media, KPMG will focus on William Hill’s digital and technology operations, which both suffered in the 17-week period to April 26.

The bookmaker saw digital revenue fall by 4% year-on-year in the period, due in part to a 17% decline in sportsbook.

The move comes despite the firm having last year launched its ‘Project Trafalgar’ initiative to replace its existing desktop and mobile offerings.

However, after the bookmaker encountered difficulties during the roll-out of its new mobile application at the end of last year, betting growth in the core UK market slowed.

The appointment of KPMG is the latest in a series of moves by William Hill to help combat this decline, with the bookmaker having also brought in Crispin Nieboer as its new managing director of online.
