Wigan Warriors sign 188bet as new main sponsor

4 December 2015

Online betting brand 188bet has moved to enhance its portfolio of commercial agreements within the professional sports sector by signing a sponsorship deal with English Super League rugby league team Wigan Warriors.

Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was confirmed that the new agreement will be in place for the 2016 season.

Under the deal, 188bet will become the club’s main sponsor and benefit from branding placement on the front of Warriors’ playing jerseys.

The agreement also includes significant branding at the club’s DW Stadium, as well as representation on the team’s official digital and social media channels

188bet branding appeared on the shoulder of Warriors’ playing jerseys in 2010 as part of an existing agreement with the club.

“The opportunity to sponsor a leading rugby team with the history, heritage and standing of the Wigan club was just too good to pass up,” 188bet managing director Nigel Singer said.

“As we continue to grow the profile of 188Bet in the UK, we will do everything to ensure that our relationship with the Warriors is rewarding to both parties.”

Simon Collinson, marketing director at Wigan Warriors, added: “We have a great relationship with 188bet and are delighted to be welcoming them back as the club’s official main sponsor in 2016.”

The agreement comes after the company last month struck a deal to serve as title sponsor of the 2015 Champion of Champions snooker tournament, while it also has a commercial partnership in place with English Premier League football club Liverpool.
