Tribal gambling contributions fall in Arizona

4 August 2014

Financial contributions from tribal gambling organisations to the State of Arizona have dipped year-on-year in the latest quarter, according to the Arizona Department of Gaming.

Total contributions will be about $24.6 million (€18.3 million) for the three months through to the end of June 2014.

The total figure represents a 1.7% fall on the same quarter last year.

According to the Associated Press news agency, Arizona gaming department officials said that about $12 million of the total will be put towards the state's Instructional Improvement Fund for Education.

Additionally, about $6 million will be put into the Trauma and Emergency Services Fund and $2 million will be used for the Arizona Department of Gaming’s operating costs.

Wildlife conservation and tourism departments will also benefit from the contributions.
