Betting exchange operator Smarkets has today announced the launch of its new sportsbook app, SBK.

The app will launch tomorrow (9 August) in the UK and will be introduced in the US in the near future.

The SBK app, built in-house by Smarkets, offers odds and a social-focused interface for betting on sport and politics. Prices on SBK are the same as those on the Smarkets exchange.

“We are extremely excited to fully launch SBK having made substantial improvements since the beta introduction last year,” Smarkets chief executive and founder Jason Trost said. “By combining innovative technology with transparent and fair odds, I believe we are able to offer a product like no other in the market, which will help us continue to have an impact in an industry dominated by a few big players who don't seek to give customers the best value.”

The app will include the SBK Price+ comparison feature, which will allow users to compare Smarkets’ prices directly against other bookmakers. The SBK Price+ feature will initially be rolled out on football, before being added for the remainder of the SBK offering.

For the previous 12 months, the SBK app had been in a private test mode, with a waiting list to join.

Smarkets was founded in 2008 and has processed over £14bn (€15.2bn/$17.0bn) in trading volume since its launch.
