Slotty Vegas operator MaxEnt has UK operating licence revoked

5 June 2019

Malta-licensed operator MaxEnt Limited, trading as Maxent NRR Entertainment, has been stripped of its UK operating licence following a change in ownership, the Gambling Commission has announced.

The regulator said the decision was taken following the acquisition of the operator, formerly known as NRR Entertainment, by MaxEnt. It cited concerns about the source of funds used for the deal and question marks over its new ownership.

The Commission said it was not satisfied that it would have granted the operating licence had the operator’s new owner, who is not named in the decision, been in charge when MaxEnt originally made its application.

“[The] Commission also identified concerns relating to the new controller's suitability, in that it appeared that he had provided conflicting information and had failed to be full and frank in his dealings with the Commission,” the regulator said.

The decision comes into effect from June 18, with the regulator noting that it expected the operator to engage with its customers ahead of that date.

MaxEnt operates the Slotty Vegas and BetAt brands in the UK. Its Malta certification, awarded in 2011, covers a third brand,

The acquisition appears to have been finalised around May 2018, according to a blog post on the company’s website.
