Scout and Metric link up for US drive

Firms will combine their DFS and sports betting products

Tech firm Scout Gaming believes DFS still has a strong future in the US after signing a partnership with Metric Gaming that will see the two combine their sports betting and fantasy sports products.

The partnership, which is non-exclusive, states that Metric and Stockholm-based DFS platform provider Scout will have reciprocal access to each other’s products and jointly develop new products with the ambition of coalescing sports betting and fantasy sports games. As part of the agreement, Metric will provide traditional sports betting products for Scout’s Betflex application.

Scout and Metric said they have experienced an increased demand for their respective products in the US after the repeal of PASPA in May. While sports betting has now been legalised in a number of states – and companies such as DraftKings and FanDuel are increasingly moving into the legal wagering market – Scout believes the heritage of DFS means it is “expected to remain an important part of the gaming market going forward”.

“We are experiencing interest from operators ready to launch a sportsbook offering in the US as well as parties that have already launched,” said Scout CEO Andreas Ternström (pictured).

“Metric Gaming has a world-class sportsbook which, like our platform, is based on the latest technology.

“Through the collaboration, a leading offer for the American market, where Metric Gaming resides, will be created. At the same time, Scout Gaming gets an even broader offering for the European market by gaining access to sports odds.”

The deal comes soon after Metric announced a $10m (€8.5m/£7.6m) funding injection it said would “accelerate” its ambition of becoming a leading tech provider in its home US market.

“We see great potential in the partnership with Scout Gaming since our products complement each other perfectly,” said Metric CEO Martin De Knijff.

“To come up with a full-scale offering consisting of the two best products on the market is something I believe will be nothing short of successful.”

Earlier this year Scout signed an agreement to provide its DFS service to GML Interactive’s Greek brands Stoiximan and Betano.

Last month it announced that Ellinor Kilegran had become CEO of its B2C subsidiary FanTeam, a platform that is Scout’s test-bed for new features and functions.
