The Responsible Gambling Trust (RGT) has revealed Kate Lampard as the new chair of the board of trustees.

Lampard, who has been appointed to the role with immediate effect following an open recruitment process that lasted four months, will succeed Neil Goulden.

She was previously non-executive vice-chair of the South of England Strategic Health Authority and, as a former barrister, recently headed independent investigations into allegations of abuse by the late UK television personality Jimmy Savile in NHS hospitals.

“The Responsible Gambling Trust plays a vitally important role in enhancing our understanding of harm arising from gambling and the best ways to tackle it,” Lampard said.

“I look forward to working with our research, treatment and gambling industry stakeholders to address the evolving challenge of minimising gambling related harm.”

Sir Christopher Kelly, chair of the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board, added: “The Responsible Gambling Strategy Board and RGT collaborate closely to understand, treat and prevent problem gambling.

“We look forward to working with Kate as she takes up her new leadership role as a wholly independent chair of the Trust.”
