NetPlay TV has ended talks with Sportech over the potential acquisition of The Football Pools business.

Last month, NetPlay TV confirmed that it had held “very preliminary” talks with Sportech over a possible deal.

Just days later, Sportech confirmed that it had received a number of offers for the business.

Although Sportech did not reveal the identity of any of the interested parties, it did invite potential bidders to submit their final proposals by the middle of this month.

Having considered its own position, NetPlay TV has opted not to enter into this process and has therefore terminated discussions.

As a result, a suspension on the company’s ordinary shares has been lifted as of 07:30 GMT today (Monday).

In a statement, NetPlay TV said: “NetPlay, supported by its robust cash position, continues to pursue a strategy of actively considering all relevant acquisition opportunities and increasing shareholder value.”
