The Chinese resort of Macau has revealed its gambling market suffered further losses in August, with revenue down 35.5% on a year-on-year basis.

Revenue in August amounted to 18.6 billion patacas (€2.3 billion/€2 billion), the same figure recorded in June of this year but substantially down on the total posted in the corresponding month last year.

According to the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the August figure represents the 15th consecutive month of decline in gambling revenue for the resort.

Analysts had forecast a decline of between 36% and 38% for the month.
