LeoVegas signs up with GAMSTOP

LeoVegas has moved to bolster its responsible gambling efforts by signing up to UK-focused GAMSTOP.

Run by not-for-profit organisation The National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme, GAMSTOP was created to enable consumers to restrict their gambling with all online gambling companies licensed in the UK.

Customers that register with GAMSTOP can exclude themselves from internet gaming with all UK-licensed operators.

As part of this commitment, LeoVegas has also integrated all of its brands with ‘LeoSafePlay’, which offers customers tools such as session limit, wagering limit, and pause account functions.

Gustaf Hagman, chief executive of LeoVegas, said: “In addition to LeoSafePlay, which is our overarching platform for responsible gaming, we are now taking yet another step to enhance player protection.

“Adding GAMSTOP shows our high ambitions in responsible gaming.”

The move comes after the UK Gambling Commission recently fined LeoVegas for “failings” related to misleading advertising and the handling of customers.

A review found that LeoVegas failed to return funds to 11,205 customers when they chose to self-exclude and close their account, while marketing material was sent to 1,894 people who had previously self-excluded.

In addition, LeoVegas allowed 413 previously self-excluded customers to gamble, without speaking to those punters first or applying a 24-hour cooling off period.
