Kiron and Vermantia to launch African virtual channel
Virtual games specialist Kiron Interactive and digital media company Vermantia have joined forces to set up what they say is the first pan-African channel dedicated to virtual games.
The service will feature Kiron’s entire Virtual Games portfolio, which includes virtual horse racing, football, motor-racing and cycling.
Plans are also in place to introduce other sports and number games later this year.
The channel, which will be available to access 24 hours a day, will initially be launched in betting shops in Uganda during the first quarter of 2015.
Ugandan shops will be joined by sites in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya before the end of the year.
“We’re looking forward to speaking to operators in the coming weeks about how our new channel can provide a competitive advantage to their retail betting estates,” Kiron’s co-chief executive officer, Steven Spartino, said.
Thanos Panousis, chief commercial officer at Vermantia, added: “The beauty of the Africa channel is that it is a cost-effective, scalable solution and has a broad reach on a continent where Virtual Games have proved to work very well.”
