IG Group to launch Sunday trading service
Financial spread betting provider IG Group Holdings is to become the first platform to launch a Sunday trading service in order to allow clients to trade a selection of markets outside of normal trading hours.
The new service will enable clients to respond immediately to weekend events, when an increasing number of political, financial and economic news now takes place.
Clients will be able to trade certain major indices, political markets, additional binary options and Bitcoin, all of which were previously unavailable until Sunday evening.
The FTSE 100, Germany 30 and Wall Street are now available for Sunday trading from 8am GMT until 10.40pm GMT, with any position still open at the closing time automatically rolling into IG Group’s existing weekday contracts for no extra charge.
Matt Brief, head of dealing at IG Group, said: “Global news which impacts the financial markets does not stop on a Friday and restart on a Monday, and neither does clients’ desire to react to that news.
“This new Sunday offering, alongside our other out of hours’ services, provides traders with a more immediate way of responding to the big news events.”
