HPYBET Austria names Patrick Orlet as CEO

| By Aaron Noy
Patrick Orlet has taken on the chief executive position at Playtech-owned sportsbook brand, HPYBET, covering the Austrian market.

Orlet has been chief financial officer for the operator since 2019, covering both its core German and Austrian operations, and will continue to hold the responsibility for this role in addition to his duties as CEO for Austria.

He succeeds Andreas Köberl, who has led the brand since 2017 and recently took on a new role as chief executive of live dealer content provider, BetGames.tv.

Commenting on his appointment, Orlet said: “We would like to thank Andy [Köberl] very much for the further development of HPYBET over the past three years and wish him all the best for his professional future.”

“After a very difficult year in 2020 [due to novel coronavirus], we are looking forward to a super year for sports in 2021 with the European Football Championship, the Olympic Games and much, much more,” he said. “I would especially like to thank the very loyal HPYBET team for their support, which did a great job in uncertain times. Not least because of this, we are optimistic and, above all, focused on the future,”

Orlet holds a doctorate in commercial law from Vienna University of Economics and Business, and has past experience working with Vienna University and the auditing and tax consulting firm, LeitnerLeitner.

Playtech recently reported a 22.5% year-on-year decline in revenue for the first half of 2020, caused by the impact of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Its B2C offerings recorded a 41% drop, although all verticals outside sports betting recorded a strong growth in revenue.
