H2 projects $4.9bn US wagering market within five years
The leading gambling data business H2 Gambling Capital has forecast US sports betting gross win to outstrip that of the UK within five years after the US Supreme court lifted the long-standing ban this week.
The Manchester-based firm has projected US-regulated gross win to reach US$4.88bn by 2023 based on 19 states regulating the activity, moving it ahead of the projected $4.67bn figure for the UK.
iGaming Business’ principal data partner has forecast the market to be worth $7.5bn by 2030, assuming 25 states with regulation on the books.
Unsurprisingly, California is modelled to generate 30% of the gross win from a 20-state regulated market by 2024, reflecting the potentially lucrative tax collection opportunity for the US’ most populous state.
