France enforces advertising ban on forex, binary options

French financial regulator Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has begun to enforce a ban on the electronic advertising of forex and binary options services.

According to Finance Magnates, the AMF has this week contacted a number of brokers and affiliates to request that they remove adverts in accordance with the country’s Financial and Monetary Code.

Announced last month, the ban applies to the digital advertising of all forex and binary options in France, although companies will still be able to offer contracts for difference (CFDs) if they meet certain requirements.

The AMF has also ordered all brokers that are active in the country to provide a guaranteed ‘stop loss’ on client positions and negative balance protection.

France follows a number of other countries across Europe in introducing new regulations regarding forex, binary options and CFDs.
