DraftKings secures innovative Staples Center partnership
DraftKings has struck a deal to become the exclusive daily fantasy sports partner of the Staples Center, the home of various major US sports teams.
Under the agreement, DraftKings will work with staff at the arena to create the ‘DraftKings Fantasy Sports Bar and Lounge’ a new facility that will allow visitors to the Staples Center access various fantasy sports services.
Due to open in September of this year, the new 4,400sq ft facility will feature a network of television screens, 15 Microsoft Surface Tablets and 4 iMacs, while additional technology will enable fans to play daily fantasy sports games.
Guests that provide a DraftKings ID will gain access to special discounts on food, drinks and other exclusive opportunities.
In addition to the new facility, the deal will enable DraftKings to gain significant exposure around the Staples Center through the placement of branding on digital signage throughout the venue.
DraftKings will also receive a number of hospitality benefits such as tickets and other premium arena amenities.
“This partnership will not only launch what we believe will be a signature and entertaining hospitality destination for our fans but will create numerous opportunities for us to introduce and showcase the exciting and original concepts being developed by DraftKings,” Staples Center president Lee Zeidman said.
It was also confirmed that the daily fantasy sports operator has extended its category-exclusive sponsorship with the LA Kings, the NHL ice hockey team that plays at the Staples Center.
DraftKings will continue to benefit from television-visible dasherboard signage, social media exposure and VIP hospitality elements, in addition to marketing support of the firm’s NHL Fantasy Contests via LA Kings banner ads, emails, newsletters and other platforms.
Jason Robins, chief executive of DraftKings, added: “We will bring DraftKings players closer to the action each day with live broadcasts, VIP experiences, special guests and ticket giveaways.”
Aside from the LA Kings, the California-based Staples Center is also home to NBA basketball teams the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, as well as Women's National Basketball Association franchise the Los Angeles Sparks.
