Bet Service Group, the gambling operator behind the Gamebet brand, has been ordered to halt activities in Malta after the country’s regulatory body suspended its gaming licence.

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has informed Bet Service Group it must cease all activities, meaning it may no longer register new players or accept any deposits.

The regulator has also ordered all other websites operated by or associated with Bet Service Group and its licence to cease operations with immediate effect.

In addition, the MGA has requested that Bet Service Group submit a collection of data and documentation to the regulator so that it can investigate its activities.

Although the MGA did not state why it has moved to suspend the B2C gaming licence, the regulator told iGamingBusiness.com that it is empowered to suspend licences under regulation nine of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations.

“A licence suspension may be withdrawn by the MGA if the breaches are addressed by the licensee, as long as the MGA is fully satisfied that concrete measures are in place to avoid a similar instance of non-compliance,” the MGA said. “In absence of such measures, the MGA may elect to proceed with cancellation of the licence.”

However, the regulator has advised Bet Service Group customers who have any outstanding payments due to contact the MGA via email for information on how they can access these funds.

Players are requested to send their full name, address, date of birth, telephone number, a copy of their passport or ID Card, Bet Service Group username, a description of the product in question and a screenshot of their balance.
