Aristocrat Leisure has named Trevor Croker as its new chief executive, following the resignation of Jamie O'Dell earlier this week.

Croker, a former sales director of the Foster's beer brand, will assume his role with the poker machine group from March 2017.

The appointment comes after O'Dell, who had been serving as chief executive and managing director of Sydney-based Aristocrat, announced his intention to leave the company on February 28 next year.

According to Business Insider Australia, Aristocrat chairman Ian Blackburne said: “Trevor’s outstanding personal qualities and leadership impact, combined with his strategic capability and deep understanding of Aristocrat’s business and potential underpinned the board’s decision.

“Trevor is the right person to build on Jamie O'Dell's extraordinary legacy, sustain the business’ performance and lead forward to its next phase of growth.”

Blackburne added: “The board respects Jamie’s decision to depart at the end of February 2017 after a remarkably successful eight-year tenure that has transformed the business.”
