ACMA blocks access to nine more offshore online casinos

13 January 2020

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has announced a further nine online casino websites to be blocked by internet service providers (ISPs) in the country as part of an ongoing clampdown on illegal activities.

Roo Casino, GW Casino, Wager Beat, Joe Fortune, Ignition Casino, Casino Dingo, AU Slots, Top Bet and XBet have all been deemed by the ACMA as operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The ACMA said it had received more than 79 complaints about the nine websites. The organisation has now urged Australian users of these sites to withdraw their money as soon as possible.

In November, the ACMA named both Emu Casino and Fair Go Casino as the first offshore gambling sites to be blocked by ISPs in the country under new rules it began implementing earlier that month.

The ACMA said that Emu Casino has since exited the Australian market and is allowing customers in the country to withdraw funds through its customer support service.

According to the ACMA, more than 90 illegal companies have pulled out of the Australian market since 2017 when it started enforcing new illegal offshore gambling rules. Ordering ISPs to block access to sites has only been possible since late last year.
