The Nevada Gaming Control Board has announced that casinos in the US state collected almost $949 million (€869.5 million) in revenue in September, 3.6% more than the corresponding month last year.

Revenue on the Las Vegas Strip hub climbed by 7% year-on-year to $543 million, while winnings from the Downtown Las Vegas area increased by 4% to $49 million.

Games and tables generated $363 million in revenue last month, 5.5% more than in September of last year, while revenue from slot machines climbed 2.4% year-on-year to $586 million.

In addition, although sportsbook betting volumes fell in September, sports pools collected $41 million in revenue, 15.2% more than last year.

Nevada was able to generate $63 million in tax money from the winnings, 9% more than in September 2015.
