The New York Gaming Commission has today (June 10) approved regulations governing sports betting in the state. This clears the way for the licensing process for the state's four upstate casinos to begin.
Some of New York’s sporting arenas could be able to offer betting to patrons, after legislation to legalise land-based and mobile betting was amended by authors, Senator Joseph Addabbo and Assemblymember Gary Pretlow.
The Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS), the platform through which state lottery operators track suspicious betting activity, revealed that 198 alerts were generated in the first quarter of 2019, of which 33 were flagged to its partners.

The Czech Republic’s Ministry of Finance has confirmed that it will increase the tax rate on certain gambling activities in the country from January 2020. Taxes will be split into three levels, according to how harmful the government perceives the activity to be.
Swedish gambling operator Svenska Spel has appointed Carolina Swaffer to the new role of head of agents, customer service and partner services. Swaffer will join from postal service PostNord Sverige on June 1.
