Boylesports opens London office
Independent Irish bookmaker Boylesports has opened a new office in London as part of a drive to recruit staff for the planned expansion of its digital business.
The Irish Times reports the group has appointed James Arnold, former head of European marketing at online gaming firm Sportingbet who arrived at Boylesports in May, to head up the operation. Arnold said that as part of the growth strategy, the group needed to be present in a large urban centre in order to attract the staff and skills it needs.
He added: “In terms of recruiting the specific expertise that we need to grow the digital side of the business, we felt that this was more readily available in London.”
Five of Arnold’s previous Sportingbet colleagues will also join him at the London office, which will be responsible for marketing Boylesports’ digital offering and directing growth.
The wider growth strategy was developed in order to develop the Boylesports’ digital operations, having successfully created a strong retail presence of 180 shops. As a result, the two businesses are now split into two divisions and appointed Keith O’Loughlin as chief executive of online.
The group has already invested over €1m ($1.3m) in technology and systems throughout the past year and the digital strategy features a particular focus on mobile.
