Online gambling operator 888 Holdings has signed a deal with sports event promotions firm Matchroom Sport that will see its 888casino brand serve as the title sponsor for the Champion Of Champions snooker tournament.

Set to run from November 19 to 24 from the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and broadcast on UK terrestrial station ITV4 and in China via CCTV, the 888casino Champion Of Champions invitational tournament is due to feature stars of the snooker world including Ronnie O'Sullivan, Judd Trump, Mark Selby and Neil Robertson.

“888 is excited to have the opportunity to continue our support and investment in snooker,” said Itai Pazner, Senior Vice-President for 888.

“Matching up our leading casino brand, 888casino, with such a prestigious snooker event is a perfect fit for the brand and more importantly our customers. We look forward to utilising the access and exposure as title sponsor of the 888casino Champion Of Champions as an extension of the entertainment experience 888casino provides every day.”

May saw 888 ink a one-year title sponsorship deal for its 888poker brand with the men’s developmental PGA EuroPro Tour golf tour while the Gibraltar-based operator revealed that the 888casino Champion Of Champions tournament will feature 16 winners from the previous season competing for a £270,000 prize fund with £100,000 set aside for the overall winner.

“We are very excited to have 888casino on board as title sponsor of a brand new tournament on the snooker calendar,” said Barry Hearn, Chairman for Matchroom Sport.

“888 has been involved with snooker previously and I'm thrilled that it is continuing its association with the sport in such an innovative new event. The Champion Of Champions is an elite competition featuring winners of all the major tournaments throughout the season and we are looking to establish it as a regular ‘best of the best’ and, with unprecedented live coverage on terrestrial UK television, the 888casino Champion Of Champions will be bringing snooker of the highest quality to a potentially huge audience both domestically and around the world.”
