Wright partnership for 888

5 June 2012

Online gambling operator 888 Holdings has signed a deal that will see former England soccer star Ian Wright serve as the ambassador for its 888Sport.com online casino and sportsbook for the duration of the Euro 2012 football championship.

The former Crystal Palace and Arsenal striker will be the face and voice of 888Sport.com’s Winning Streak, which is a prediction title based around upcoming results from 31 Euro 2012 games.

Winning Streak will ask players to predict the outcomes of 31 contests from Poland and the Ukraine for the possibility of winning a cash prize worth £888,888.

“The Euros are sure to be a closely fought contest this summer,” said 48-year-old Wright who currently works as First Team Coach for MK Dons.

“So many teams will fancy their chances and going through the fixtures and making my predictions brought up a few interesting contests.

“I'm always asked who I think is going to win and going through the process of selecting my picks matched my initial thoughts. There are some tough groups but I'm happy with the predictions I've made. £888,888 is a lot of money to win and will get the amateur pundits across the land thinking long and hard about the Euros and who is going to go all the way. It may show it's not as easy being a pundit as it looks.”

888 declared that Winning Streak will also offer ‘several side promotions’ that are due to hand out ‘thousands of pounds of prizes and free bets’.

“‘Wrighty’ is so well known and respected across the game of football and we are proud to be associated with someone of his stature in the sport,” said Itai Pazner, Senior Vice-President for 888.

“Winning Streak is a new concept we have created and one we're really excited by. We hope that there is a ‘winning streak’ going the whole way and winning £888,888 could change someone's life.”
