Zynga has revealed that it was able to break its mobile revenue record for the second consecutive quarter, while also confirming its best top-line quarterly performance in four years.

Total revenue in the second quarter came in at $209.2m (€176.7m), up 15% on the $181.7m posted in the corresponding period last year and also $9.2m ahead of the firm’s initial guidance.

Mobile revenue was up 30% on a year-on-year basis and accounted for 86% of the company’s overall revenue in the three-month period, while mobile bookings also increased by 33%.

Meanwhile, net income amounted to $5.1m in the quarter, compared to a net loss of $4.4m in the same quarter last year, while bookings also hiked 20% year-on-year to $209.2m.

In addition, adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation jumped 61% from $18.6m in Q2 of 2016 to $29.9m in the most recent quarter.

Frank Gibeau, chief executive of Zynga, said: “We had a great first half of the year, beating our Q2 guidance on the top and bottom line and posting our best revenue and bookings performance in four years.

“Our ‘forever’ franchises continue to flourish, and today we have the strongest mobile portfolio in company history.

“We’re also pleased with our mobile momentum, and in Q2, we delivered our highest mobile user pay revenue and bookings. Our mobile audience has also increased, up 28% year-over-year, now at 19 million average mobile DAUs.

“Our operating cash flow is the best we've generated in five years and, this past quarter, we reached profitability, achieving net income of $5.1m.”
