Social poker leader’s new products are paying off

KamaGames is reaping the benefits of its Slots launch as its first-half results indicated exponential growth in revenue and customer base.

The social gaming company, Europe’s largest social mobile poker platform, went live with its first Slots in February, as well as adding new 3D games where players bet against the casino, Set Poker and Split Bet Poker. The company sees Slots as a way to increase its number of female users, with 84% of its core poker product players being male.

Daily active users doubled in H1 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 and gross revenue grew by 53% in the same period. The company’s gross revenue figure for 2017 was $57.5m, which was up 63% on the previous year.

Discussing the introduction of Slots to the portfolio and Pokerist app during the period, Andrey Kuznetsov, chief execuitve of KamaGames, told iGamingBusiness.com that “the numbers for user retention activity and payability are very good”.

“We can definitely say that Slots has been a successful launch for us and that we will keep developing this product,” he said.

“We will continue to develop new Slots games in the future, each with their own unique mechanics and features enabling us to compete with the current market leaders.”

Established in 2010 and employing over 250 staff, KamaGames has its corporate headquarters in Dublin, Ireland as well as offices in London and Dubai.

While KamaGames has flourished during the first half of the year, its previously announced target of growth in India, South East Asia and China is proving a challenge.

The company highlighted that its core regions of Europe, the Americas and the Middle East make up almost 80% of its players, adding “there is still significant growth opportunities for us as a company in the new and emerging markets”. However, Kuznetsov admits cultural and legal obstacles are hampering its progress in some target regions.

“The main challenge for us in the Indian market is to find paying players,” he told iGamingBusiness.com. “The conversion rate is relatively small across all other regions.

“In China, it is rumored that the regulator might ban all social casino games, so it is a bit difficult for us to forecast any perspectives there.”

The company will focus on releasing new games and features during the rest of the year.

Kuznetsov said: “We believe we have huge potential as a company and we are focused on maintaining our rate of growth. It won’t be easy, but we are ready for it.”
