Content supplier now has deals with partners making up 45% of Italian market

iGaming platform and content supplier GAN now services clients accounting for almost half of all online casino revenue generated in Italy after it launched with Goldbet.

Sports betting and casino operator Goldbet has launched content from its new partner following a platform integration.

Goldbet runs over 900 betting shops throughout Italy and also operates an iGaming offering, which holds a market share of around 3%.

As a result of the agreement, GAN's iGaming clients now account for around 45% of total gross gaming revenue generated in the country. The supplier already has deals in place with eight operators in the country, including high-profile brands such as Snaitech and Sisal.

“GAN continues to win major clients in Italy by delivering an increasing number of high quality internet casino games to our Italian clients, carefully procured from independent casino game design studios worldwide as well as major land-based casino equipment manufacturers,” GAN chief executive Dermot Smurfit said.

“GAN’s distribution reach now extends to nearly half of the regulated Italian internet casino gaming market.”

In the first six months of the year, revenue from Italy at GAN amounted to £1.7m (€1.9m/$2.2m), just under 40% of total revenue in the period. The first half proved to be a mixed period for GAN, with overall revenue up 11%, but the supplier's loss after tax widened to £2.9m.

However, GAN last week was boosted by the news that client revenue was up 40% year-on-year to $26.7m in the third quarter, compared to $24m in Q2. Results were helped by the launch of its sports betting partner FanDuel in New Jersey, as well as the roll-out of online and simulated gaming for Atlantic City’s Ocean Resort Casino.
