Daily fantasy sports (DFS) company DraftKings has entered into partnerships with English Premier League football clubs Arsenal, Liverpool and Watford as part of a move to support its global expansion into the UK market.

In August of last year, DraftKings secured a licence to launch its services in the UK and had initially planned to go live in the market by October.

However, in November, DraftKings confirmed that it was to delay its launch in the UK until early 2016, but did not disclose the reasons behind this decision.

Once live in the UK, DraftKings plans to offer contests on the 11 sports that are currently available in North America, including football, golf and e-sports.

With DraftKings’ launch in the UK now imminent, the company has entered into long-term partnerships with three Premier League sides.

Supporters in the UK and around the world will have the opportunity to win a host of prizes such as matchday tickets and signed club merchandise, while the company will have also a presence inside the teams’ stadiums and on each of the clubs’ digital and social media channels.

In addition, the DraftKings logo will feature on pitchside LED advertising boards inside Liverpool’s Anfield home stadium.

Jason Robins, co-founder and chief executive of DraftKings said: “The reality in the UK is that DraftKings will bring a totally new experience for sports fans, especially those of Arsenal, Liverpool and Watford.

“We offer our players the opportunity to test their skill at fantasy contests with the immediacy of daily play.

“Our ambition is to bring players as close to the action as possible, with all the information they need to assemble the best teams.

“To do that, we are partnering with some of the biggest names in football here in the UK.”
