Betsson has started looking for a new boss after the board agreed with Ulrik Bengtsson that he should stand down as president and CEO.

The operator said in a statement this afternoon that upon the decision being reached, Bengtsson had “chosen to leave his position immediately”.

Chairman Pontus Lindwall will act as interim group CEO until a new permanent CEO and president has been appointed, with board member Patrick Svensk assuming Lindwall’s chairman duties until further notice.

Lindwall on behalf of the board thanked Bengtsson for his contribution, adding that he “has done a good job for Betsson during the five years he has been employed by the Group. He has clarified the strategy and implemented significant product launches”.

Jesper Svensson, chief commercial officer of BML Group, has been appointed acting CEO of its Betsson Malta subsidiary.
