Betsson names Svensson as CEO of operational subsidiaries

5 December 2017

Betsson AB has appointed Jesper Svensson as chief executive of its operational subsidiaries.

Svensson had been serving as acting CEO of its Betsson Malta subsidiary on an interim basis since September, after the sudden departure of group CEO Ulrik Bengtsson forced a reshuffle of the senior management team.

Bengtsson had been president and chief executive of the company but opted to step down for undisclosed reasons on 4 September. The following month, the operator posted a mixed set of Q3 results, as a decline in operating and net income took the shine off an 11% growth in revenues.

Chairman Pontus Lindwall was appointed as interim group chief executive, with board member Patrick Svensk assuming Lindwall’s chairman duties.

Svensson has been with Betsson since 2013 and, prior to taking up the interim role, had been serving as chief commercial officer of the BML Group.

“The team and I have many opportunities and also challenges ahead,” Svensson said.

“We have already made improvements to our ways of working in order to better leverage on the multi-brand model and the single platform.”

Lindwall added: “The team and I have many opportunities and also challenges ahead; we have already made improvements to our ways of working in order to better leverage on the multi-brand model and the single platform.”
