Welcome to our ICE Sports Betting USA issue, which doubles as the delegate guide for the second edition of Clarion Gaming’s event focused on understanding and unlocking the huge potential of US sports wagering.

With May’s repeal of PASPA having blown the door open on the US-regulated market since last year’s conference, our content for this issue features several highprofile stakeholders speaking at the event, including the sports leagues.

The leagues continue to drive many of the debates over the future of US wagering, with integrity still as central to their discourse as it was when fighting against the lifting of PASPA. We talked to the NBA and PGA to get a steer on how the main stakeholders plan to collaborate and move forward (p35).

In the background, of course, are the offshore books, which Larry Gibbs argues are being assisted by initial post-PASPA actions (p10). Foxwoods’ interim CEO Rodney Butler (p18) also argues that the leagues’ integrity-fee proposals will affect operators’ “ability to compete with the massive, unregulated black market.”

With eight states having already passed enabling legislation, the landscape will likely have shifted again by the time our ICE North America event in Boston comes around on 13-15 May 2019.

Please visit the ICE North America website for more details and to register.
