UltimateBet.com signs Flames deal

11 January 2010

Online poker room UltimateBet.com has signed a sponsorship deal with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL) that will see its logo appear on dual rink boards during games at the team’s Pengrowth Saddledome home arena.

The Alberta franchise currently sits top of the Northwest Division just above the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks and is almost certain to celebrate its 30th year with an appearance in the post-season, which begins in April.

According to UltimateBet.com, the month-long sponsorship agreement ‘seals a partnership between the two camps that genuinely share a passion for champion competitors and a respect for the sporting ideal’.

To celebrate, Kahnawake-licensed UltimateBet.com is set to award four pairs of prestige tickets to its US and Canadian players for the March 11 game between the Flames and Ottawa Senators. The site is currently holding eight daily Texas hold’em satellite tournaments at three hour intervals beginning from 6am with the top 100 players from each event receiving a seat into one of four Sunday main events set to take place throughout January. In addition to a pair of tickets, the four winning players will each also take away $1,000 in cash for travel expenses.

In addition to awarding its own players, UltimateBet.com is also set to make one lucky hockey fan very happy by giving away another pair of tickets into the luxury hospitality suite for the March 11 game. The random winner will be chosen at one of eight upcoming Calgary games and must go head-to-head on the Jumbotron in a pre-recorded hockey trivia game against Wisconsin native Phil Hellmuth. The challenger will walk away with the tickets if they can beat Hellmuth in a game of ‘truth’ or ‘bluff’ by correctly guessing which facts are true.
