South African Lottery Going Mobile With B-On

Intralot, the Athens-based developer and supplier of gaming and transaction processing systems, has signed a deal with South Africa’s Gidani Party Limited to offer its B-On mobile gaming platform.
Gidani operates the National Lottery and players will now be able to take part using their mobile telephones initially through First National Bank Of South Africa before other banking institutions are added in the near future.
Intralot revealed that its B-On gaming platform is to be provided by its Intralot Interactive subsidiary and offers a rich gaming experience, player club services, multi-channel support and advanced services for the efficient management of e-payments and e-marketing activities. The platform features various multi-player mobile and Internet gaming capabilities and can also support a wide range of game types involving skill, knowledge and chance.
In addition, community features with B-On include friends’ lists, matchmaking, presence, chat and instant messaging to complement its rich gaming experience.
“The second half of this year, Gidani will see the introduction of new and exciting National Lottery experiences every other month,” said Bongani Aug Khumalo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Gidani.
“This is in fulfilment of the commitment we made when we took over the running of the National Lottery of our country in October of 2007, promising that South Africa will have a lottery like no other in the world.”
Gidani has operated the National Lottery of South Africa since October of 2007 following an international tender with Intralot’s South African subsidiary the largest shareholder after the government.
“We are very pleased that South Africa will benefit from the great advantages of our B-On pioneering gaming platform,” said Constantinos Antonopoulos, Chief Executive Officer for Intralot.
“With the new playing channels the National Lottery of South Africa will have the opportunity to raise more money for good causes and players will enjoy more exciting gaming experiences.”
