Sisal chooses Intralot

Intralot, the Athens-based developer and supplier of gaming and transaction processing systems, has signed a contract to provide Italian lottery and sportsbetting operator Sisal SpA with thousands of its latest terminals.

The Greek firm will supply 15,000 microLot units equipped with scanner document readers for use throughout Sisal’s extended Italian sales network along with associated services.

“We are very satisfied with our new contract with Sisal, one of the leading gaming operators in the highly competitive Italian market,” said Constantinos Antonopoulos, Chief Executive Officer for Intralot.

“The fact that we have been selected to equip such a large scale retail network ratifies our dedication to technological excellence. We are determined to honour Sisal’s confidence and provide it with our cutting-edge products and services while, at the same time, looking forward to expanding our co-operation in the gaming sector.”

Intralot stated that the microLot terminals and their related peripherals would be connected via the Internet to Sisal’s central system while the operator will also have the option of utilising its eyeLot camera reader in its network.

“I believe that selecting Intralot as a primary technological partner for our sales network is a step forward in Sisal’s commitment to excellence,” said Emilio Petrone, Chief Executive Officer for Sisal.

“I am confident that the agreement will bring further added value to our products, retail network and consumers.”

Founded in 1946, Sisal is one of Italy’s largest gaming operators and handles two of the nation’s most popular games, SuperEnalotto and Win For Life. It stated that SuperEnalotto had turnover of €3.3 billion last year while Win For Life has seen turnover of over €579 million since it was launched in late-September. The firm has a 12.3 percent share of the Italian gaming market and revealed that its volume increased 43 percent year-on-year in 2009 to reach €9.4 billion.
