GTech Launches Dominican Republic Lottery
29 July 2009

Leading American gaming technology and services firm GTech Corporation has announced that Dominican Republic lottery operator Loto Real Del Cibao CXA recently completed its first-ever online lottery ticket transaction powered by its advanced Enterprise Series system solution.
Providence-based GTech is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica, one of the world’s largest commercial lottery operators, and was selected in August as Loto Real’s exclusive technology and services provider under a 20-year contract.
“The recent launch of Loto Real is a testament to GTech’s continued success in Latin America,” said Alan Eland, Senior Vice President for GTech Americas.
“With cutting-edge technology, tireless customer service and best practices and business development consultancy, GTech will position Loto Real as the premier lottery operator in the Dominican Republic.”
With an initial prize of $417,594, the new lottery features a range of online games including Loto Real, a 6/39 matrix amusement that awards prizes to winners who match at least three numbers, and Pega Four Real, a ‘pick four’ title. These are in addition to games already popular in the Dominican Republic including Quiniela Real, Pale Real, Tripleta Millonaria Real and Super Pale Real.
GTech revealed that it expects to have delivered 1,000 Altura terminals to Loto Real’s retailer network, Agente Real, by the end of the year. Agente Real already operates 750 Altura terminals and will distribute the units to retailers throughout the country including Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Vega, Puerto Plata, San Francisco De Macoris, La Romana and Higuey.
“GTech’s technological capabilities, systems experience and strategic vision throughout this implementation were key in helping Loto Real deliver a first-class lottery to the citizens of the Dominican Republic,” said Jose Bernardo Guzman, President for Loto Real.
