Fortuna launches Polish online sportsbetting
27 January 2012

Central and Eastern European online sportsbook operator Fortuna Entertainment Group NV has launched fixed-odds services for Poland after receiving a licence from the nation’s Ministry of Finance on Tuesday. Amendments to the Polish Gambling Act that came into effect in July enable bookmakers based in the Eastern European nation and legally operating on the domestic market to offer fixed-odds betting services online and Fortuna established its Fortuna Zaklady Bukmacherskie subsidiary soon after in order to take advantage of this opportunity.
“Offering sports bets via the Internet is a key issue when it comes to the presence of Fortuna on the Polish market,” said Jan Stefanek, Chief Executive Officer for Fortuna Zaklady Bukmacherskie.
“For several years, Fortuna have been successfully providing online betting services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We expect great interest in this distribution channel among Polish customers.
“We believe Polish players, who from now on will be able to bet online with legal bookmakers, will use this opportunity and not be subject to fines for betting with bookmakers operating illegally.”
Punters based in Poland can visit eFortuna.pl and create an account from today with each customer required to provide their national identification number for the purposes of age verification.
“The most important advantage of online betting with Fortuna, apart from betting in a convenient way and absolutely in line with law, is simplicity and a guarantee of payment of any winnings,” said Stefanek.
“Additionally, unlike the foreign bookmakers operating in Poland illegally, betting participants will be able to easily and effectively submit any complaints.”
