Debut of new sportsbetting service
11 January 2010

Bookmakers and punters can now get expert analysis of all of the day’s major sports events from around the globe following the launch of a new dedicated multi-sportsbetting online television service from The Betting Channel.
The Betting Channel began streaming live last week for two hours daily at TheBettingChannel.tv from 9am and scrutinises all of the day’s major global sporting events while identifying regular betting opportunities including in-running markets.
The dedicated multi-sportsbetting television service uses technology from Satellite Information Services Limited, the outside broadcast production providers for the BBC and is the brainchild of former Sky Sports and Liverpool TV presenter Alan Bentley.
“After such a long time spent working on this project, it’s a very exciting time for the whole team and me personally,” said Bentley.
“We believe the immediacy of our offering will prove attractive because punters will be able to obtain continually updated sports news and odds as soon as the news breaks. And by using an internet platform to broadcast, we offer an immediate global reach.
“There’s so much planned for the Channel that I’m not sure how we’ll fit it all in. But we’re very hopeful for the sustained success of The Betting Channel for the future.”
Bentley and co-host Simone Thomas anchor The Betting Show live from a London studio, regularly assisted by sports and betting journalists including The Racing Post’s Mark ‘Couch’ Winstanley alongside personalities such as pundit Alan Brazil and former Arsenal player Perry Groves.
There are plans to extend The Betting Channel’s programming to six hours a day in the future while also expanding the show’s breadth of content. In addition, Bentley revealed that the Internet television show could also provide bookmaking partners with bespoke content while launching an affiliate scheme and SMS and mobile content syndication service.
