In America, the California Lottery has teamed up with Warner Bros Records to launch Scratchers, a new scratchcard game that gives players the chance to win unique second-chance prizes such as music downloads and concert tickets.

The top cash prize available through a Scratchers card is $10,000 but non-winning tickets can be entered into an online second-chance drawing, which will award an all-expenses-paid trip to a summer music festival next year.

The scratchcard tickets are being sold for two dollars apiece at 21,000 retailers throughout the state and 2,400 non-winning players will receive 100 music downloads each.

“We are excited to partner with Warner Bros Records to bring a one-of-a-kind game to our players by combining the fun of winning with the excitement of music,” said Joan Borucki, Director for the California Lottery.

“Our players have expressed great interest in music-themed prizes and this game, coupled with our interactive website, will bring a new level of playing to our customers.”

Warner Bros Records is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary and stated that the Scratchers cards will feature four of its artists. Veteran rockers The Goo Goo Dolls will highlighted as will new band Taking Back Sunday and singer songwriters Seal and Michelle Branch.

“Warner Bros Records was born in California and we have a rich history and heritage in the state,” said Andrea Kinloch, Brand Partnerships Vice-President for Warner Bros Records.

“In celebrating our 50th anniversary, partnering with the California Lottery was a perfect match. It’s always nice to be first and, since this is the first music-based promotion that the California Lottery has done, we are even more pleased.”
