Ames Joining Ladbrokes Board
31 December 2008
The world’s largest fixed-odds betting company, Ladbrokes, has announced the appointment of Richard Ames, Managing Director of UK and Ireland Retail, to its Board of Directors from the first of the year.
Alan Ross, Corporate Development Director for Ladbrokes, recently announced that he would not be standing for re-election to the firm’s Board of Directors. He stated that he would be retiring after 37 years of service to the Harrow-based firm to be replaced by 34-year-old Chris Palmer, the man currently in charge of running Northamptonshire’s Towcester Racecourse.
Ladbrokes stated that 38-year-old Ames joined the company in January of 2005 and has led a number of initiatives to ensure the retail business continues to perform well in a highly competitive environment.
'Richard has senior executive experience in retail management and brings to the Board considerable expertise not just in retail but now in retail bookmaking,” said Chris Bell, Chief Executive Officer for Ladbrokes.
“We are pleased to welcome him to the plc board.'
